I graduated with a BA (hons) in Film and Media studies and am now working for STV, a television broadcaster in Scotland. This blog is about reviews, opinions and essays focussing on film, TV and the media in general. It's also about satiating my desire for wordiness.
My opinions have been published on the STV website and I've also appeared on STV's Moviejuice programme.
I normally try to get one post up per week, although my slothlike tendencies have been known to get in the way of this ambitious schedule (sarcasm).
Feel free to comment on my posts, agree, disagree or offer your own perspective.
If you want me to write for your blog, website or publication, get in touch.
What's with the name?
The story goes like this:
INT . BROTHER'S HOUSE - DAY
MY BROTHER AND I RELAX IN HIS LIVING ROOM, CASUALLY CHATTING AWAY ABOUT NOTHING IN PARTICULAR.
BROTHER:
WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT THAT FILM?
ME:
WELL...
I GO OFF ON A LONG-WINDED SPIEL ABOUT HOW I THOUGHT THE MAIN PROTAGONIST WAS A UNIQUELY PROVOCATIVE ANTI-HERO AND HOW THIS KIND OF CHARACTER IS VERY MUCH THE FLAVOUR OF THE MOMENT IN HOLLYWOOD, ETC. MY BROTHER SITS AND WONDERS WHEN I WILL STOP TALKING. EVENTUALLY I DO.
BROTHER:
(EXASPERATED) WOAH, I ONLY ASKED WHAT YOU THOUGHT...
That's when I realised I like to talk about films and stuff a little more than is considered normal. Unfortunately I also have the burden of unnecessary long-windedness, which often inspires in people the same reaction as my brother experienced. So I've resolved to write a regular blog in a bid to not only engage more critically with the world of film and media, but to also fine-tune my writing ability, all the while providing something enjoyable and informative for people to read (hopefully).
